Bishop Carlos Belo in Traditional Garb
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 1996, Dom Carlos FX Belo SDB, arrived to a fiesta in the mountain village, wearing traditional clothes. Around 10,000 people gathered and congratulated him on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
